The conceptual planning of Artisans Walk focused on simple ways to enhance the existing community. Within this planned urban development (PUD), the residences are strategically placed along the existing street frontages providing an urban plan that relates directly to the adjacent properties and supplies adequate density for the neighborhood. The courtyard offers a communal gathering space that can be used for casual interaction, or for community gatherings, such as performances, art shows, or craft fairs. The layout of Towns, Studios, and Lofts promotes a diverse group of living arrangements within the Artisans Walk Community.
