The senior-care environment has recently evolved. Nursing homes used to exist for the frail elderly. Nowadays, they are home to chronically ill populations with complex medical issues. Long-term care facilities now encompass sub-acute centers and specialized care programs including out-patient centers for physical therapy and rehabilitation. The regulatory design standards have become more sophisticated as a result. Accommodating patient and family needs within an efficient, safe medical environment is a challenge that we meet routinely, by creating well-planned, homelike residences.
